The site:  about all things Microsoft, software development, and technology

The author:
I am Joe Groner, a computer engineer by training, a software developer by trade, and a long-time follower of Microsoft professionally and personally.  I first started developing software using the Microsoft technology stack back in 1998.  I follow Microsoft news avidly and I am familiar with their offerings across the board.  Remember Liquid Motion and Vizact?  How about Recite?  Have you heard of Code Contracts?  I have tried or studied just about everything Microsoft has to offer.

I still consider myself a skeptic, as I spent time doing computer graphics research entirely on Linux in graduate school.  I did a stage 1 compile of Gentoo at the time, and spent hours compiling things from portage from scratch.  I can still edit documents in vi, and I think Linux does many things well and some things better than Microsoft.
